Break My Fall

The new single by Citizen Shade , “Break My Fall.” has been released!!

Today I decided to write about something which I feel like I have a real inside look into. In case you are brand new to the blog, or maybe you have just followed my style posts I am actually 50% of Citizen Shade. I hang behind the keyboards and electronics while Will Howard works his vocal magic. So I figured, what better way to get a peek into the song and video then through my eyes. I personally have always loved getting into the mind of the artists and also to have a look behind the scenes of their work. So here is my inside look into, “Break My Fall.”

We have had the great pleasure of working with our good friend KENZ ( known as Kensington Moore in some parts) on projects in the past, from live shows to Youtube work, and knew that we needed to get in the studio to lay down an original together. It was something magical to watch as Kensi and Will paired up on the vocal parts from melody to harmony on top of the driving instrumental that had been produced. After the track was finished we decided it was time to put some top-notch videographers to work. We flew out to Salt Lake City, Utah and worked with Cameron Goold and Jared Fadel who REALLY  brought the song to life.

We arrived at a smokey warehouse where we were met with the smiling faces of an audience full of extras ready to dance the night away to the track as we performed live for the video shoot. A fleet of people were on the ready, running lights, fixing makeup and setting the smokey scene for the shoot. We finished the shoot well past midnight and hunger took over driving us to one of the only viable options late at night, Denny’s. In case you are wondering what a milkshake and hot chocolate taste like at the same time go ahead and ask Will, he has already tested it for you.

We left the shoot exhausted but our hearts were full knowing that real quality work had been set in place to make the video something unlike anything we had released to date. Now that the video/song is out I can fondly reflect at the time we had being involved with the story boarding, the late nights brainstorming over chord changes, and the ever subtle nuance that went into the final product.

I am thankful for everyone who had a hand in, “Break My Fall.” I encourage you all to check out the song and the video! Give the video a thumbs up, subscribe and leave your thoughts for us, we love to hear from you. Add the song to your Spotify playlists and anywhere else that you listen.
